AFC Telford United appeal Ellis Deeney's three-match ban after red card at Chorley
AFC Telford United have appealed the three-match ban handed to midfielder Ellis Deeney after his controversial red card at leaders Chorley on Saturday.
The Bucks man was dismissed by referee Barry Lamb for an alleged stamp with 20 minutes remaining at Victory Park, where Gavin Cowan's men found themselves a goal behind. They later levelled through a Brendon Daniels penalty.
Deeney insists there was no stamp and Cowan and his AFC Telford staff have studied footage before deciding to lodge an appeal against the subsequent three-match ban.
The midfielder is free to play against play-off rivals Altrincham at the New Bucks Head tonight but his suspension would kick in on Saturday, meaning missing matches against Curzon Ashton, Hereford and Alfreton.
Telford are likely to receive a response on the appeal later in the week.
