AFC Telford boss Gavin Cowan: Let's stay ahead of the pack

The Bucks are heading to what is expected to be a raucous Edgar Street in seventh – National League North's final play-off spot.

Currently three points ahead of nearest chasers Blyth Spartans, a win would give their hopes of holding on to the position – or even grabbing sixth or fifth – a big boost.

And when asked if he is excited to face the Bulls, Cowan said: "Absolutely. They're a club with a big history, a big fanbase.

"It's one we're really looking forward to, and we're making sure we go there having had best the preparation possible.

"On our day, we're more than capable of going there and getting the win.

"And that's not being arrogant. Anybody can beat anybody in this division.

"We go everywhere to pick up three points.

"We need to stay ahead of the pack, that is the only thing on our mind at the moment.

"Ultimately, we are in a good position, so we want to give a good account of ourselves and, hopefully, get the result we want."

Telford's last trip to Hereford ended in defeat – in the FA Cup first round proper last season.

But they are entering the encounter with confidence, having gone five games unbeaten.

Andre Brown's strike in the 3-1 win against Curzon Ashton last weekend has given Cowan food for thought as to who to play in attack.

Top scorer Daniel Udoh was rested last weekend while Marcus Dinanga started alongside Brown, and Amari Morgan-Smith came off the bench.

"We've got great strength in depth, and that's down to our recruitment last summer, and Andre has always had the talent in abundance," said Cowan.

"It gives me a few things to think about going into the game, and that's what you want as a manager."

Cowan only has one injury worry, adding: "Brendon Daniels has had a little niggle which has kept him out of the last couple of games, so we'll be assessing him and taking it from there."
