Former AFC Telford loanee Eddy Jones handed a Wales U21 call
Teenage left-back Eddy Jones, who spent last season on loan at AFC Telford United, has been called up to Wales’ under-21 squad.
The 19-year-old has been name as part of head coach Paul Bodin’s 23-man squad for the nation’s first ever match against Ireland at under-21 level.
Jones was a big hit for Gavin Cowan’s Bucks before the National League North season was voted to an early conclusion last month.
The former under-17 international made 12 appearances for Telford, including 10 in the league, in his first loan taste of senior football.
Jones was a popular member of the Bucks dressing room and Cowan was keen to extend his loan for the remainder of the campaign.
Former Telford and Shrewsbury striker Dave Hibbert, who works at Stoke’s academy, played a role in the move.
Also included in the squad is Crewe centre-half Billy Sass-Davies, 21, who also spent part of the 2019/2020 season on loan at the New Bucks Head, where he made six appearances.
The fixture takes place on Friday, March 26 (1pm kick-off).
