Revealed: Aston Villa's special kit for West Ham FA Cup clash
Villa have revealed they will wear a special commemorative kit in Friday night’s FA Cup tie with West Ham.
The third round clash has been billed as the club’s 150th anniversary match as it falls close to the date of their first ever fixture.
As part of the celebrations, Villa have received the go-ahead to wear a one-off, all-black kit modelled on those first worn by the club before moving to the famous claret and blue colours.
It features the Scottish lion rampant, first worn in 1878 with a design redrawn from the earliest sources in existence. No sponsor features on the kit, which was designed by Adidas.
Chris Heck, President of Business Operations, said: “This unique anniversary kit was designed by Adidas with the inspiration to deliver authenticity which is coming from the great, William McGregor.
“We are so grateful to have partners that go above and beyond our partnership for the good of the fans, thank you adidas and thank you Betano and Trade Nation.”
The shirts will be available to buy from Thursday, while the club has also announced plans to launch an accompanying “culture wear” range.
