Haughmond return home against Loughborough
Haughmond return home for the first time since their FA Cup replay defeat against Boston United when they host early season Midland League strugglers Loughborough University tomorrow.
This weekend’s visitors to Shrewsbury have collected just four points from their opening nine league games this season, losing seven of them.
Haughmond quickly bounced back from defeat against Boston to begin what they hope will be another exciting run in a knockout competition by winning 4-1 at Bilston Town in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase last Saturday.
Matt Burton’s side have now been handed a home tie against Worksop Town in the first round proper on Saturday, October 21.
The Nottinghamshire club are currently fifth in the Northern Counties East League.
Haughmond, boosted by the news that creative midfielder Scott Graham is set to return to the club after finalising his university arrangements which will allow him to be available for most games, handed first starts to Scott Ryan and Sean Jones against lower division Bilston.
Haughmond, in their first Midland League season after winning the West Midlands Premier last term, sit 14th but have at least one game in hand on most other teams.
