Their midweek success – coupled with a 4-2 win over Team Dudley last Thursday – sees Adam Proudlock’s men finish second on 69 points, four behind champions Wem Town, writes Jack Groom.

Goals from Jordan Turton, Rob Millington, Graeme Robertson and Jamie King saw Town overcome Dudley last week and put them on the cusp of success.

In a bright opening period it was the hosts who took the lead as Turton raced onto a ball through the Dudley defence to slot home and put his side into the lead.

They were soon pegged back however to go in 1-1 at the break, and so knowing they must win to keep their dream alive Town then came out firing after half-time.

Goalscorer Turton then turned provider as he set-up Rob Millington for a tap-in before Graeme Robertson headed in from a corner to give his side a comforting cushion in the scoreline.

Dudley did reduce the arrears late on, but not before King had bent in a sumptuous fourth to rubber-stamp the victory - and leave Proudlock knowing that his men must beat bottom-placed Willenhall Town on Tuesday to secure their place in the Premier Division come August.

Town quashed any possible nerves early on as they opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a well-worked goal. Ed James played a neat one-two with Millington on the edge of the penalty area before surging through the Willenhall backline to fire home having seen himself through on goal.

They doubled their advantage 20 minutes later, Jamie King profiting from a neat lay-off from central defender Tyrell McFarlane following a corner that wasn’t cleared to blast in to the top left-hand corner and give the goalkeeper no chance.

Second-half finishes from Cal Muir and Tom Horton - a neat volley following a good King cross and a well-worked team goal respectively - added some gloss to the scoreline in a match that Town never looked like losing as soon as they bagged their early opener.
