Boss Graham Turner will this weekend continue the exhaustive search to strengthen his Shrewsbury Town squad before the closure of the January transfer window after admitting: "We're going through a difficult period."
Town were beaten 1-0 at Bury last night in front of the Sky cameras, Shrewsbury old boy Ryan Lowe grabbing the only goal in the first half.
The Gigg Lane setback means Town have managed just two victories in their last 12 League outings and had dropped to seventh before the remainder of today's League Two programme.
The January window remains open until 11pm on Monday and Turner revealed the hunt for fresh blood will continue right up to the deadline.
"It's been a busy week and a busy month," said the Town boss.
"We are aware we have had one or two knock-backs.
"The sort of players we have been looking for have decided to go elsewhere, in particular to clubs in a higher division.
"Hopefully by 11pm on Monday when the League office finally closes, we can add another one or two players."
Turner admitted that, while Town mounted a second half revival last night, their first half performance in a 4-5-1 shape proved costly.
"We were too rigid first half and we were penned back too far," added the Town boss.
"If you have got that extra man in midfield you have to use it and we didn't.
"The second half performance was decent and we had a real go.
"We reverted to 4-4-2, Matt Harrold made a difference and I thought we might have got something out of it.
"We didn't and it's a difficult period for us but we have to try and keep confidence high.
"We are in the midst of a difficult programme with nine games in 28 days and six away from home with some long journeys.
"It all takes its toll on players resilience and it's a testing time at the moment.
"But if we show the energy we did in the second half, I think we will come through it."
