Departing Shrewsbury Town striker Matt Harrold today revealed his sadness at his Greenhous Meadow exit.

The 26-year-old forward is excited at the new challenge created by his move to Bristol Rovers, where he has signed a two-year contract after a fee – understood to be in the region of £20,000 – was agreed.

But Harrold – who finalised his move and had a medical on Thursday night – admits he is disappointed that his stay at Shrewsbury lasted just a year after signing on a free contract from Wycombe Wanderers.

"Just before I went on holiday, my agent called and said there was interest and Shrewsbury would be prepared to sell me," he said.

"I was a bit surprised and disappointed because we achieved a fair bit last season.
