Young full-back Jermaine Grandison is confident Shrewsbury Town will have no promotion hangover as they prepare to launch preparations for the new campaign in the next 48 hours.

Town suffered double disappointment at the end of last season, missing out on automatic promotion by one point before suffering defeat to Torquay in the play-off semi-finals.

But Grandison is confident those memories will be erased when the squad re-convenes for pre-season training on Thursday.

"Not getting promoted was a blow but I have spoken to quite a few of the lads over the summer and we are putting that behind us and focussing on next season," said Grandison, who sees his long-term future at centre half but will be happy to slot in where required.

"We all think we can do really well and we just want to get started on Thursday."

Town boss Graham Turner, who continues to be linked with a move for Accrington full-back Joe Jacobson, is keeping his cards close to his chest over potential targets.

"Nothing is finalised yet so there are no details I can give out but hopefully one or two more deals will be done before the weekend," Turner said today.

Meanwhile, there has been some early changes made to Shrewsbury's fixture list.

Town will make one of the longest trips of the season on a Friday night after the trip to Southend was brought forward one day to Friday, September 30 (7.45pm).

It is one of six games the Shrimpers have switched to a Friday night as they try and attract bigger crowds to Roots Hall

And Town and Hereford are seeking permission from the Football League for their local derby games to kick off at 1pm.

The first of the two local derby matches is scheduled to take place at the Greenhous Meadow on September 10 with the return match at Hereford on January 28.
