Play-offs remain a challenge for Paul Parry
Experienced winger Paul Parry insists Shrewsbury Town's opening exchanges in League One have strengthened his pre-season belief that the club can mount a play-off challenge this season.
Town have taken five points from their five games and lie 17th in the embryonic table.
On his summer arrival from Preston, Parry insisted Shrewsbury could challenge at the right end of the table and the ex-Cardiff ace still holds that view.
"Nothing's changed my mind and we have more than matched certain teams in the League who will fancy their chances to make the play-offs," said the former Wales winger.
"It goes to show we can compete and why not have the aspirations to make the play-offs at least?
Parry leads into the Greenhous Meadow double header against Scunthorpe and Coventry at the head of Town's early scoring charts with two goals after finding the net against his former club Preston and Stevenage.
"I should certainly have scored more," added the 32-year-old.
"If I keep getting into positions, hopefully I will add to the tally.
Meanwhile, young Town striker Tom Bradshaw played the final half-hour for Wales Under-21s as they ended their European Championships qualifying campaign with a 5-0 hammering away to the Czech Republic last night.
Shrewsbury's youngsters take on Hereford at Edgar Street in the Midland Youth Cup tonight (7.30pm).
