Macclesfield draft in Shrewsbury's Joe Anyon
Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Joe Anyon today joined non-league Macclesfield on a short-term loan ahead of their FA Cup fourth round tie against Wigan Athletic.
Macclesfield custodian Lance Cronin broke his thumb in training and Anyon has joined on a seven-day loan to provide emergency cover for tomorrow's big game at Moss Rose.
Anyon has had to take a back seat to in-form first-choice Chris Weale since arriving at the Greenhous Meadow last summer.
Manager Graham Turner made recently that he would be in favour of a loan move to get the 26-year old shot-stopper some match action.
He said today: "For Joe, it's a terrific occasion. What a game to go into for a loan.
"He has been a model professional, he has had to be patient and it is an opportunity to be in the spotlight."
