Shrewsbury boss glad to have Paul Parry back
Shrewsbury Town utility man Paul Parry's return to action has been hailed by manager Graham Turner.
The former Wales international played a decisive role at former club Preston on Saturday when his neat play set up Jon Taylor for a second-half equaliser.
And Town stepped up their attacking threat noticeably after Parry was introduced at the start of the second-half, going on to claim only their second away win of the campaign thanks to Matt Richards' last-minute penalty.
It was Parry's first football since the Boxing Day home game with Notts County, after which the 32-year-old was laid low by illness.
While he will seek to boost his attacking options via the loan market, Turner is glad to have the versatile Welshman – who has shown he is comfortable at full-back, on the wing or up front during a lengthy career – back.
Turner said: "It's been difficult for Paul, as he's had his illness. But he played up front for the reserves against Bury last week and you realise he has that bit of composure.
"He's not going to be flying all over the pitch and running in behind defenders to often.
"But, if we can get Paul on the ball, he's got the ability to see things and that is what he showed at Preston."
