Shrewsbury still searching for a left winger
Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner will step up his search for a left-sided attacker after missing out on former Colchester winger Jack Compton.
While Turner's priority is to sign a striker with Tom Bradshaw currently the only senior forward on Town's books, bringing in a wide man would also be an ideal scenario.
Mark Wright's exit at the end of last season has reduced Salop's options for pace, particularly down the left.
Former Wolves trainee Ashley Vincent could be under consideration, after he dropped onto the summer market when he rejected fresh terms at newly-promoted Port Vale.
But Town failed to land Compton, who was on the radar of several clubs before he signed for League Two rivals Hartlepool.
The 24-year-old claimed Shrewsbury were among four offers he turned down before he chose to link up again with former boss Colin Cooper at Victoria Park.
After low-key stints with West Brom and Brighton as as youngster, Compton revived his career north of the border with Falkirk.
That's where he impressed in a loan spell at Bradford two years ago, when new Hartlepool boss Cooper was in caretaker charge.
But further permanent moves to Portsmouth last year and Colchester in this year's January transfer window failed to get his career moving and he was limited to a handful of appearances.
Meanwhile, the Greenhous Meadow ticket office is currently selling tickets for the Bolton (July 20) and Birmingham (July 23) warm-ups.
They are priced at £10 for season ticket holders and £12 for non-holders. Concessions are £5 and £6, while there are also family tickets available at £12 and £14.
