Shrewsbury Town prepare for three tough tests in next seven days, writes blogger Liam Hoofe.

Apart from an embarrasing display in the Johnstone Paint's trophy Shrewsbury fans can take a lot of positives from their start to the season.

Six points from the opening five games as eased the pre-season nerves and fans will be feeling a tad more optimistic for the season ahead.

However, Shrewsbury will face three extremely difficult tests, all in the space of seven days, that will help give fans an indication of just how well this team can do this year.

On Saturday we head to the Broadfield stadium to take on a Crawley team who currently sit seventh in the table on 10 points.

After a slow start Crawley have picked up form and won their last two games, one against struggling Gillingham and an impressive victory away at early pace setters Peterborough United.

Crawley will no doubt prove difficult opponents for Town and most fans will be happy to take a point on Saturday. That being said our record last season against Crawley was impressive and fans could fancy us continuing that this time around.

Following on from Crawley we head down to Bristol next Tuesday night for our rearranged fixture with The Robins. Bristol have yet to pick up a win so far this campaign but don't let that fool you. City have one of the most impressive squads in the league and when they finally start gelling I've no doubt they will prove to be ones to watch this year.

Their first win also has to come somewhere and Town have quite the habit of breaking other team's bad runs.

Once again most fans would be happy with a point here and with both teams having drawn half their games so far this season that seems like it could be the likely outcome.

Following on from that we take on local rivals Wolves at the Meadow, in what is one of the most anticipated games of the season.

A huge (hopefully sell-out) crowd and a derby day atmosphere could push the team to a memorable victory.

On paper this is a game Wolves should be winning but derbies are often unpredictable affairs and I firmly believe we could take three points here.
