'Shrewsbury Town too good to go down' says Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson has backed his former boss Graham Turner to keep Shrewsbury in League One.
Ferguson, who is the son of former Manchester United legend Sir Alex, praised the quality of the side Turner has assembled at the Greenhous Meadow following Saturday's clash between the sides.
The game, which Peterborough won 1-0, reunited Ferguson with the man who signed him as a player for Wolves back in 1994 towards the end of his managerial spell with the Molineux club.
And Ferguson said that Town had enough quality to defy the bookmakers' pre-season predictions, which tipped Salop for relegation.
He said: "It was good to see Graham. He's a fantastic servant for football.
"He's a good manager, he knows the game very well and it was good to see him with a good team. They have had a lot of draws this season and you can see why. They are no mugs. On that (evidence on Saturday) they won't get relegated. I think they have got enough. It's a long season with injuries and all the rest of it, but they have got the right man. With the experience he has got I am sure they will be fine."
