Paul Parry hoping Joe Jacobson can return for Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Paul Parry is keeping his fingers crossed that defender Joe Jacobson will have recovered from his own niggling injury in time for Saturday's trip to Stevenage.

Jacobson was forced out of the Oldham game after just 25 minutes with an as-yet-unspecified problem to his hamstring or knee.

Turner said after the game that the injury did not seem as serious as had been initially thought when the left-back had left the field.

Parry, who dropped from right-midfield to left-back in his place on Tuesday night, said he is comfortable playing in that position if required but he hoped Jacobson will be fit in time for the weekend.

He said: "I had a full season at left-back earlier in my career.

"I was just filling in but hopefully Joe will be days rather than weeks. We''ll see how he recovers."

Parry added that this weekend's game will give Town a great chance to put their recent disappointment against Oldham behind them quickly.

Tuesday defeat was Town's first at home in six games but the team is currently still chasing a first away win of the season.

Parry said: "Our away form has been disappointing, so that is something we need to concentrate on starting with Saturday at Stevenage. We have highlighted that we are not doing enough away from home so Saturday gives us a perfect opportunity to put it right."
