Graham Turner ready to ring changes for Shrewsbury Town

Angry Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner has hinted at making changes for Saturday's League One trip to Crewe.

The Town manager admitted he could find 'no positives' from his side's underwhelming performance in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Walsall. Turner said he felt like making sweeping changes to his team for the trip to Gresty Road, such was his disappointment at the display.

"It's probably too early to think about (making changes for the next game) because I don't think I can change XI for Saturday. But that is the immediate reaction," he said.

"You can't do that obviously and as the week goes on you settle down and re-group, re-organise in training and then decide what the side is going to be. But certainly it's a difficult performance to take."

The Greenhous Meadow chief had been hoping to build on his side's first away win of the season, which came at Stevenage two weeks earlier.

But he was left surprised and disappointed after his team lost their way and were beaten by a second-half goal from Milan Lalkovic.

"We were a shadow of the side that played at Stevenage in terms of our work, in terms of what we put into it, in terms of our ability to pass the ball and control it," added Turner.

"I think that is the disappointing part of it. When you go away from home and get your first away win and play well and dominate for long periods, to throw in a performance like that for nearly an hour was a mystery."

The defeat was just Town's third at home in League One all season, following defeats to Wolves and Oldham.

But Saturday's performance was the least palatable of the three for Turner, who had been pleased with the overall displays in both of the other games.

He said: "Against Wolves it was a very good performance and I thought we should have got something out of the game.

"And against Oldham it was quite a reasonable performance and I thought we were very unlucky to lose that one. But I have no complaints about the result on Saturday. We were poor."
