Shrewsbury Town's Paul Parry a doubt for Crewe game
Paul Parry today emerged as a doubt for Shrewsbury Town ahead of tomorrow's trip to Crewe.
The former Wales international has suffered a hamstring injury in training and faces a battle to be fit for the trip to Gresty Road.
Manager Graham Turner said today: "We have a doubt about Paul Parry. The pitches get very heavy at this time of year and in particular our training pitch, and it starts to pull on the muscles."
Midfielder Aaron Wildig (knee) could be fit for the New Year's Day trip to Oldham and Jermaine Grandison needs another two weeks' fitness before being considered ready for contention.
"Aaron's making good progress and could be fit for the first game in January," Turner added.
"That might be optimistic but we're hoping he'll be back in training next week.
Turner has set a new point target for the club's next six fixtures – and is hoping for a better return than their last half-a-dozen matches.
The Town boss was looking for 12 points from their previous bunch of fixtures, but 10 was considered an acceptable tally. They eventually ended up with nine.
The trip to Crewe kicks off a six-game schedule as they plough into the festive programme, which could make or break their long-term future.
n Town fans can pay on the gate tomorrow after Crewe lifted the all-ticket restriction on away fans. Prices are £21 adults, £16.50 over-60s, £10 12-16s and £6 for under-11s.
