Shrewsbury could make even more signings
Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon today refused to rule out any more new signings after snapping up No 16.
The Town boss swooped for striker Andy Mangan yesterday and is still on the hunt for more players.
The new-look squad host Kilmarnock tomorrow before going to Kidderminster and Altrincham to complete their pre-season schedule next week.
Mangan is likely to feature for the first time tomorrow but despite his bumper business Mellon is still open to adding to his side.
He said: "You can't ever say that your recruitment is over because when you think you are good enough you cause yourself problems. You always have to try to make it better.
"I have a little saying which I say to myself that the players at the minute have to be at the top of their game because I'm looking for players who are better than them.
"I have some fantastic players at the moment though and I'm finding it really difficult to find anyone who is better.
"They are improving day after day and standards are brilliant but the minute they drop they know the manager is looking to try to replace them."
Mangan arrives after training with Town this week now he has secured his release from Forest Green.
Mellon managed Mangan at Fleetwood where the striker scored 22 goals in 54 games before Mellon's departure in December 2012.
Mangan leaves The New Lawn following a troubled six months after he was suspended for disciplinary reasons in February.
He successfully appealed the decision and returned for pre-season training before Mellon made his move.
Mellon hopes the 27-year-old will use his frustration of the last few months to Shrewsbury's benefit, saying: "He loves football and wants to play. "
