Micky Mellon keeping Shrewsbury grounded
Manager Micky Mellon has warned his high-flying Shrewsbury Town stars not to get carried away ahead of their home clash with Luton.
The Conference Premier champions arrive at the Greenhous Meadow looking to put an end to Town's unbeaten start to the season.
It's a run which now stretches to six games, following the historic win against Premier League Leicester City.
And, although Tuesday night's win was both physically and mentally draining for his players, Mellon insists there will be no excuses for a poor performance tomorrow.
He said: "We have rested and done some recovery work in order to get them ready again but there is nothing better than winning games for the energy levels.
"I have no concerns. There will be no excuses come Saturday and we are ready to go again. They are fit young men who love the game of football.
"They know what my aims are and we have to gather momentum because there is a long way to go and we have to keep standards high."
Mellon added, while it's important to enjoy night's like Tuesday, the strength and depth in his squad means all his players know they have to stay on their toes.
He said: "Because of the strength of the squad I think that, if you do get a bit carried away, you will lose your place.
"If one of them does get a wee bit carried away and they don't stick to the plan and doesn't do the things we are asking of them then they will lose their place."
The Hatters, managed by John Still, have made a mixed start to their League Two campaign, but four of their five points have have come away from home and Mellon knows his side are in for a tough match.
He said: "After winning promotion last season they're a team with momentum and a team used to winning games."
