Jayson Leutwiler is confident of a Town win
Goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler has vowed Shrewsbury Town will head to Plymouth on Saturday determined to pick up three crucial away points.
Town have lost their last four games on the road having fallen to defeats at Preston in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and at Hartlepool, Stevenage and Southend in League Two.
But more worrying for Micky Mellon's side is that they have failed to score in any of those outings with the team unable to take their positive home form on the road.
But Leutwiler, a summer signing following his release by Middlesbrough, believes that will change on Saturday.
He said: "Our away form is very frustrating – we haven't picked up anywhere near enough points.
"We know we are a strong team but we need to start picking up points away from Greenhous Meadow because we can't keep relying on our home form.
"We have to go to Plymouth with the mentality that we will get three points. It does not matter how we play, the important thing is getting the win."
Town's only away victory so far this season came in the Capital One Cup clash against Premier League side Leicester City.
That was followed by more cup success with the home win against Norwich, who are top of the Championship, and Leutwiler admitted the team's inconsistency is frustrating.
He said: "We really need to start concentrating on our away performances. Against Southend it was very disappointing – we didn't start very well and they did.
The game-plan went straight out the window.
"I was quite busy in the first half but if I'm not busy I am watching like a fan and getting frustrated when we are not scoring. We all know we need to improve."
The former Switzerland Under-20 international is, however, happy with his own performances and those of his defence since he arrived in Shropshire.
He added: "I am happy with the way I have played because as a team we have kept a lot of clean sheets. We don't concede many goals which is great for me and the defence."
