Goals from James Collins, Andy Mangan and Nat Knight-Percival saw Town claim a 3-1 win against Cheltenham at Greenhous Meadow on Saturday to lift them to eighth in League Two.

But it could have been so different when, following a Wesolowski miss, Cheltenham counter attacked quickly with Byron Harrison putting the away side ahead.

Undeterred, Wesolowski showed all his Australian spirit to win the ball and set up Collins who equalised immediately.

The former Oldham star then produced an outstanding box-to-box performance to drive Town on to three points, afterwards revealing a word from Lawrence helped him on his way.

He said: "I missed the chance and they counter attacked and scored and I was fuming with myself.

"We were walking back to the half-way line and Lawro told me to calm down and said there was a lot of time left and that we could get back into to it.

"Sometimes a little word like that can make all the difference and it affected both me and the whole team because we then made sure we weren't going to lose."

But while Wesolowski was happy with his performance he also felt there was room for improvement.

He said: "I missed a few chances and I feel I should have had two or three goals to be honest. It's good that I am getting into the positions but next time I get a chance I need to put it away. But I am happy. We played well and got the three points, which is the main thing.

"I'm also really pleased that the strikers have got a few goals. We have been playing well recently but haven't been scoring."

Wesolowski was pushed into a more advanced role in the second half as boss Mellon altered his midfield options following the introduction of Lawrence.

And the Australian thought the tactical switch worked well, saying: "We changed formation, we told Ryan Woods to sit and it gave me and Lawro licence to push forward."
