The talented playmaker turned down interest from a host of other teams to re-sign for Micky Mellon's side after his initial loan from parent club Blackpool expired.

And the midfielder hopes Salop can now win automatic promotion, so a permanent deal can be discussed.

He said: "I just want to contribute to Shrewsbury doing well so I'm very pleased to be back. I want to be part of what is happening here.

"The manager, chairman and Matt Williams told me that there were other clubs interested but none of that bothered me.

"People have said you can go here permanently or go there permanently, but I have been happiest since I came here.

"Everyone here is striving to be successful and win promotion. If we can achieve our goals and the manager wants me to stay, then I will talk to him about a permanent move as well."

Grant revealed the bond among the players was one of the key reasons why he wanted to come back, with the 24-year-old describing the spirit in the camp as "very rare."

He said: "The last few days have been really frustrating for me, because I had to go back to Blackpool to train. No disrespect to them, but I didn't enjoy it.

"It was only when I got the call to come and sign that I got the smile back on my face – I couldn't get down here quick enough.

"I'm really happy to be back with the lads. It goes right the way down from the chairman to the staff and is the reason why we've been doing so well.

"We're all pulling in the same direction and we all want the same thing."

Grant is available for tonight's game at Luton Town and added: "I spoke to the manager on Tuesday and I was getting really frustrated, because I didn't want my place in the team to be jeopardised.

"I want to be playing in big games and now I can't wait for tonight."
