Mark Halstead fights to claim a Town place
Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Mark Halstead is determined to keep challenging Jayson Leutwiler for his first-team place.
Halstead, a summer arrival from Blackpool, has made only two substitute appearances this season and had to watch from the sidelines as Town have built a formidable defence.
And Halstead admits it's tough trying to break in, saying: "We are all very proud of the defensive record and I'm proud of it even though I haven't been playing.
"We defend so well and a lot of the credit for that has to go to the back three or back five. When I have played I have had very little to do.
"If you are a goalkeeper in this team you should never lose your place because you are very rarely called upon.
"Jayson has his moments and keeps us in it at times, but I think all the centre-backs and wing-backs have to take a lot of credit because they have been brilliant."
Despite playing second fiddle, Halstead is still pleased to see Leutwiler performing well, adding: "I was disappointed not to start but all I can do is work hard.
"But Jayson is a great guy and is playing really well."
