The talented Frenchman has been introduced to devastating effect in each of Town's last three outings.

Akpa Akpro netted a brilliant individual strike to secure Salop a 1-0 win over Newport County on January 31.

The forward then helped set up Tyrone Barnett for his debut goal against Southend on Saturday.

And he was again in the thick of the action in the dramatic win at Carlisle on Tuesday with his late cross teeing up James Collins for a 94th-minute winner.

"I love Akpa Akpro, everyone knows how I feel about him," Mellon said.

"He is a great guy. He should score more goals because I think everyone can see just what a massive impact he can have.

"Sometimes he is unplayable. Against Carlisle, it was the last minute of the game and he is under a lot of pressure.

"But he dinked inside his man and has shown a lot of composure to get a cross in which James Collins has then brilliantly fired into the top corner.

"He is a great guy. love having him in my squad and I love having his ability at my disposal."
