Wide man Junior Brown today became Shrewsbury Town's seventh summer signing – and vowed to entertain supporters.

The 26-year-old left winger has signed a one-year deal after leaving League Two Mansfield at the end of the season.

Brown enjoyed his best times under Town boss Micky Mellon at Fleetwood, who he helped win the Conference and establish them in League Two.

He scored 13 goals in 121 games from 2010 to 2014 before a short spell at Oxford.

And after being reunited with Mellon, the Crewe-born wideman, who was released from his home-town club in 2008.

He believes he can repeat the form that saw him as Fleetwood's 11-goal top scorer in 2012-13 in League Two.

He said: "I started as a left-back under Micky but he moved me further forward in the first season in the League and it gave me freedom and licence to get forward.

"I scored goals and created goals and hopefully I can do the same here. I feel I can bring something to the team."

Mellon believes Brown will excite Town fans, adding: "I'm sure he'll become a real fans' favourite with his style of play.

"He's got fantastic dribbling skills and has a turn of pace, but he's a competitor and a winner so he's a player Shrewsbury fans will enjoy watching.

"He's left-footed, he can play wing-back or anywhere along that left side and will be a fantastic addition."

Like fellow wing arrival Shaun Whalley, Brown is still to prove himself in League One, where he figured once for Alex and for seven games on loan from Fleetwood at Tranmere in 2013-14.

But he is confident the reunion with Mellon will be a successful one, saying: "Micky knows how to get the best out of me.

"At Fleetwood we were known as a team that won by playing attractive football and we had success."
