Loanee Sullay Kaikai set to stay at Town
Exciting Shrewsbury Town loanee Sullay Kaikai looks set to remain at the Greenhous Meadow for the rest of the 2015-16 season.
Crystal Palace man Kaikai has been one of the shining lights for Micky Mellon's men this term.
The 20-year-old, whose deal ends in January, has five goals in 12 League One games for Shrews.
And Palace boss Alan Pardew, who has guided the Eagles to sixth in the Premier League, has praised the job that Town are doing with the on-loan wide man.
Pardew revealed he's happy to let Kaikai stay on at the Meadow, saying: "For Sullay to deliver there is great news for us.
"I'm very pleased and, if I don't call him back, hopefully he can stay there. He's liked playing for the Under-21s, but there's no league table and at that level (at Shrewsbury) it's life and death."
Kaikai was on loan at League Two Cambridge United last season, where he scored six times in 30 games.
But Pardew believes that Town chief Mellon and his management team are doing a 'super' job with the youngster.
The Palace chief added: "I'd be quite happy for him to stay where he is – the manager has done a super job with him.
"Why change the environment? Why does he need to go and play in the Championship?"
But Mellon admits Kaikai still has plenty of learning to do, as he deals with his first dip in form since arriving.
Mellon said: "He was a bit quiet on Monday at Grimsby. He's a young lad learning his trade and he's got to learn how to apply himself when it's a certain type of game.
"It's not all about getting the ball rolled to your feet – you've got to go looking for knockdowns and put in more aggressive movement to try to get on the ball.
"But he's learning that and that's what he's here for."
