Town's Andy Mangan sets another goal
Shrewsbury Town cup hero Andy Mangan has targeted a goal against Manchester United as his latest knockout blow.
The Scouse striker and boyhood Liverpool fan is itching to pit his wits against Louis van Gaal's side in Monday's FA Cup fifth-round tie.
And the 29-year-old wants to continue his impressive record of scoring in big cup games after netting for Town against Chelsea, Leicester and Cardiff.
Mangan, who has four goals in eight games since returning to the club, said: "From a personal point of view, I want to score.
"I love scoring goals and there's no better stage than to do it against Manchester United."
Being a 'Red,'Mangan admits a goal against Louis van Gaal's men would mean more than any other.
He said: "As a cheeky little Scouser, I probably would celebrate a little bit more than usual because it's United.
Despite the huge gulf between the clubs, Mangan is convinced Town will get opportunities.
"If we can think quicker than them, we'll get chances," he said. "I showed that against Leicester and Cardiff and over my career I've done that."
Mangan also believes Town fans may even dare to expect an upset.
They have beaten higher league Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn in the cups this season and Leicester, Norwich and Blackpool last term.
He said: "I think the fans will have some expectation because we've done so well against higher-league opposition.
"But it really is one to enjoy - we have to concentrate and stay professional and see where that takes us."
Unlike many Scousers, Mangan only respects rather than resents United, adding: " haven't got the bitterness towards United that some fans have. I just admire them because they're an amazing club.
"To pit our wits against them and see how they operate will be enjoyable. It would be an honour to be on the same pitch because they're all world-class stars."
