The Swiss keeper, who is out of contract this summer, is in talks with the club over a new deal along with defender Dominic Smith.

Leutwiler is happily settled in Shrewsbury and wants to extend his two-year stay at Greenhous Meadow.

"I don't want to speak for the club but I think they want it done before the holidays," said the 26-year-old.

"I'm enjoying my time at Shrewsbury. I've told the club I want to stay and we're in negotiations, so we'll see exactly what's going to happen in the next few weeks."

Meanwhile, Leutwiler insists Town aim to push United all the way in Monday's FA Cup fifth round tie.

"We're going to try to win – we're here for a reason," he said.

"We've been playing well for the last few games. We're getting settled and we're finding some consistency."

The former Middlesbrough reserve admits it's the stuff of dreams but insists it's business as usual as far as his preparations go.

"There's more pressure because it's a bigger game so you're more nervous, but it's a dream come true to play against them," he said.

"But I'll prepare the same as I do for normal games.

"It's going to be amazing. Everyone is talking about it and when you go into town, people are going crazy."
