Shrewsbury Town eye windfall over Tom Bradshaw and Connor Goldson sales
Shrewsbury Town are keeping a close watch on developments over former players Tom Bradshaw and Connor Goldson which could net them a sizeable cash windfall this summer.
Bradshaw, who is hoping to be named in Wales' Euro 2016 squad, is expected to leave the Banks's Stadium this summer with Preston understood to have tested their resolve with a £400,000 bid.
The Shrewsbury-born striker was able to move to the Saddlers after Walsall took advantage of a loophole in the Football League regulations.
But following negotiations between the clubs, it's believed Town negotiated a 20 per cent sell-on.
The Saddlers are expected to demand far in excess of £400,000 for a player who has been capped at full international level by Wales, has a year left on his contract and has scored 40 goals in 86 games since joining them on a free transfer two years ago.
Even if Bradshaw was sold for that figure, Town would net £80,000.
As for Goldson, reports say West Brom, Stoke and Crystal Palace are looking at the Salop academy graduate. The 23-year-old defender would be rated at around £2m after finishing the season as Brighton's young player of the year despite playing only 20 games and helping the Seagulls into the Championship play-offs.
Town have a 20 per cent sell-on clause in his contract and it's understood they have currently banked around £700,000 from his sale last August.
Based on those sums, Shrewsbury would receive £260,000 if their double player of the year moved on this summer.
Meanwhile, reports suggest Town are interested in Chester centre-back Ben Heneghan.
Elsewhere, one player Town have spoken to, Lee Novak, appears no nearer to signing with a new club.
The 27-year-old striker is available on a free transfer after being released by Birmingham City following a season on loan at Chesterfield.
"I'm unsure what is happening at the minute," he said.
