Olly Lancashire determined to take his Shrewsbury opportunity
Centre-half Olly Lancashire insists he is ready to grasp his chance as he battles for a regular starting spot at Shrewsbury Town.
The summer recruit from Rochdale was hoping to feature in his first League One game at Greenhous Meadow today as high-flying Scunthorpe checked in. Lancashire is a candidate to fill in for the suspended Adam El-Abd, who was dismissed at Bury last weekend.
The former Walsall defender has appeared five times in all competitions since joining Town during the summer transfer window but has started just two League One games.
Lancashire, 27, accepts that Town have real strength in depth.
He added: "I think we've got two players in each position and it's going to help us throughout the season.
"There's always going to be suspensions and injuries, lack of form also. I'll hopefully bring clean sheets, as a defender I pride myself on clean sheets."
