Shrewsbury Town stars aiming to hit the target
Shrewsbury Town fans' favourite Jack Grimmer may be unnervingly accurate when it comes to kicking a football – but another aspect of hitting the target was tested yesterday at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
The marauding full-back, who signed on loan from Fulham for a third time during transfer deadline day, was one of five Salop squad members to test their bow and arrow skills at the Battle Back Centre at Lilleshall yesterday.
The centre carries out vital work helping serving servicemen or women recover from injury or illness.
Micky Mellon's side also used the opportunity to train at the Lilleshall complex ahead of the trip to AFC Wimbledon.
Grimmer – alongside Ian Black, Andy Mangan, Callum Grogan and Jim O'Brien – all tested their target skills after being issued a general safety talk in the classroom.
The five were strapped up with high-level equipment before joining service members in aiming for the bullseye.
Vice-skipper O'Brien boasted of previous experience, with the exercise taking him back to childhood school days in Dunbartonshire.
It was 18-year-old academy graduate defender Grogan who caught the eye with his arrow ability, letting fly and finding the yellow target zone with a number of his arrows.
