Salop twice came from behind at the Banks's Stadium, before an 88th minute winner - straight from a corner - earned Walsall the points.

McGivern was sent off for a needless second yellow against his old side in the second period.

Coyne said: "I feel a bit worse than sickening. It's devastating when you go down to 10 men, the lads have battled, we should've scored a few there in their penalty box and we get done with a goal like that at the end.

"It was after being on top in the second half, even with 10 men I thought we had the chances to win, but we didn't take them and got punished.

"But sometimes the way things are, things like this happen so you've got to take it on the chin. Come back strong and learn from this because you've got to be a strong-minded person and you can only take the positives."

McGivern's red, Salop's fourth of the season as they continue with the worst disciplinary record in League One while sitting second bottom of the point standings.

He added: "I've spoken with Ryan and he's apologised to the lads, there's a lack of discipline there and he knows himself.

"That's what we need to stop really, the lads are being frustrated by some decisions, this is football, some things that go against you - you have to deal with it.

"We ,must be composed and obviously he can't do things like that when you're on a yellow card.

"It's one of those things, he got caught up in it, he knows what he's done but it doesn't help at the end of the game."
