Shrewsbury Town vs Port Vale: More police called in for derby
There will be more police around the Greenhous Meadow as Shrewsbury Town take on Port Vale this weekend.
The League One tie, which kicks off tomorrow at 3pm, will see extra officers in and around the stadium.
The Thames Valley Police mounted section will also be helping with the operation.
Thousands are expected to travel to the Greenhous Meadow stadium for the game and officers are advising local residents to avoid the roads surrounding the stadium wherever possible.
Chief Inspector Steph Brighton will be leading the operation.
She said:"Local officers will be on hand in and around the area during the game to deal with any issues should they arise. A proportionate policing plan will be in place to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere as is usual practice with fixtures of this nature.
"Our priority is to maintain the safety of the public and to ensure all those travelling to and from the game do so as safely and as timely as possible. I would like to be clear there is no intelligence to suggest any significant disruption to the local area and these plans have been implemented as a precaution."
