Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst hasn’t ruled out making a move for players from his former stomping ground Grimsby.

Reports have linked Town with a swoop for his former Mariners players, including full-backs Zak Mills and Danny Andrew and goalkeeper James McKeown.

Hurst left Blundell Park after a five-year tenure and his first signing as Shrewsbury boss was Toto Nsiala, a defender that served him in Lincolnshire.

Winger Alex Rodman, signed on an 18-month deal, also featured for the boss at Grimsby.

Asked as to whether he believed members of Russell Slade’s squad had the potential to step up a division, Hurst replied: “I’m sure there are some players there that believe they could play in League One.”

Town were linked with moves for shot-stopper McKeown, 27, in January, alongside Grimsby’s other goalkeeper at the time, Dean Henderson – who was on-loan from Manchester United.

McKeown joined Grimsby in 2011 and has made 290 appearances for the club.

Right-back Mills, 24, featured for another of Hurst’s former clubs, Boston, before joining last summer. He has caught the eye for the Mariners this term with some impressive displays.

Left-back Andrew, 26, moved from Fleetwood last summer and swept the board with nine awards at the club’s recent end of season presentation.

Boss Slade recently said he had “no info” that Andrew would be leaving. The full-back’s deal runs out this summer, while Mills and McKeown are tied down until 2018.
