Two ex-Shrewsbury loanees become world champions
England under-20 squad were not the only side crowned world champions last weekend as two former Shrewsbury Town loanees helped an England Veterans side clinch the Seniors World Cup.
Jamie Cureton scored one of the goals as England downed Iran 2-0 in the final while ex-Town goalkeeper Steve Phillips played between the sticks.
Forward Cureton still plays non-league football at 41. He spent 12 games with Town on loan from Norwich in 2010 but failed to find the target.
Phillips, 39, also still active for Bath City, played 11 games while on loan from Bristol Rovers in 2009.
England also won the competition in 2016.
