Shrewsbury chief Paul Hurst disappointment after Wolves loanee Niall Ennis injury blow
Paul Hurst has voiced his disappointment over the lengthy injury set-back for Wolves loanee Niall Ennis.
Ennis, 18, is being treated at his parent club's Compton base after a scan revealed meniscus damage in his knee that required surgery.
The Shrewsbury boss decided to send the young forward for a check-up after noticing he was training with some discomfort.
And with the results showing surgery is needed, Ennis is predicted to be sidelined for up to six months.
No official decision has been made about how the injury impacts on the striker's season-long loan at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
It is the latest blow in Ennis' fledgling career, he suffered a broken leg last November while on the verge of the first-team at Molineux.
Hurst said: "I’m really disappointed for Niall.
"He’s obviously had major problems in his very early career.
"From a selfish point of view we’re obviously disappointed, but more for the player himself.
"I’m sure he’ll get looked after. It looks like it will be a lengthy period so we’ll have to stay in touch and see what develops."
