The wideman has been a key cog in Town’s flying start, chalking up four assists and two goals in their opening eight league outings.

Rodman, 30, who joined from Notts County in January, previously played under Hurst at Grimsby Town.

The rangy winger has played for six different clubs in five years but feels settled at Montgomery Waters Meadow. He cites Town’s new Sundorne Castle training facility as a key factor.

“I’ve never enjoyed my football more,” said Birmingham-based Rodman.

“Everything about it, coming into the new training ground and the set-up we’ve got there, all of the backroom staff, it’s a phenomenal place to be at the moment.

“The positivity and energy in the changing room each day is fantastic, it’s a joy to come training.

“This run that we’re on, the winning feeling and the unbeaten run, just tops it all off.”

Rodman believes the club’s unbeaten run, which has taken them five points clear at the top of League One, has allowed confidence to flow within the ranks.

“We want that winning run to continue for as long as possible,” he added.

“We can play with confidence and not have any fear. To keep that unbeaten record going as long as possible is what we’re all be trying to do.”

Boss Paul Hurst has mostly used a familiar core of players throughout the opening month and a half of the season and, after 14 new additions this summer, the side have already clicked into top gear.

Rodman, who played non-league football at Leamington, Nuneaton and Tamworth, added: “A settled 11 is huge. Every game you play together and train together is huge. You go through the shape in training and every game you play with the man next to you, you get to know them better.

“There’s obviously a lot of new signings and we’ve gelled really well. You get to know each other’s game inside out playing every week together.”
