Shrewsbury Town's Bryn Morris raring to go after injury return
Bryn Morris is ‘itching to get back’ in the Shrewsbury Town starting line-up after shaking off a knee injury.
The 21-year-old midfielder had surgery recently and played the full 90 minutes as Town beat West Bromwich Albion 3-0 in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday.
He was hoping to be involved against Walsall, where had a brief loan spell last year, today.
“You just want get back out there, you’re itching to get back out there,” said Morris.
“That’s the aim, I want to play as many games as I can this season.
“It was unfortunate that I got injured but it happens and I have just got to take the opportunity when it comes.
“It’s difficult being out there training, running by yourself, but there is light at the end of the tunnel – you are doing it to get back out on the pitch.”
Abu Ogogo, Jon Nolan and Ben Godfrey have been the midfield three deployed in recent weeks.
On how those three have been doing, Morris said: “We’ve got good players in every position, not just midfield.
“Abs, you know what you will get from him week in and week out.
“Nolo is very good on the ball and Godders does a really good job there, sitting and protecting.
“We have all got different attributes and I’ll be ready when called upon.”
Town are top of the League One table but when Morris first joined, in January, they were in a relegation fight – which they won.
Summing up how things have changed in such a short space of time, Morris added: “When I came here in January, the circumstances were very different – it was vital that we stayed up.
“With that there comes a different style of play. Then we had a really hard, good pre-season.
“The training ground is a really big thing but I would say the most important thing was pre-season, getting a really good one behind us. It is much better now.”
