Shrewsbury Town will show a swift response, insists Omar Beckles
Omar Beckles believes Shrewsbury's desire and willingness to not lose will see a swift response from their Peterborough set-back.
Town succumbed to their first league defeat off the season at The ABAX Stadium but remained top of the pile in League One after 16 games.
Beckles was one of two changes as Paul Hurst was forced into fielding a new-look defensive with the injury to Junior Brown and illness to Mat Sadler.
While Town's players looked depleted at full-time, Beckles – who turned 26 last week – is certain that the mental attributes built into the squad from the management staff will help show a response.
"It's a daily thing and it's been instilled in us," he said. "It's the same thing in training I reckon.
"Even when lads lose on a Thursday or a Friday in training they're absolutely fuming, you can't talk to them – that's the desire.
"We really want to win, we want to win every single game.
"Long may that willingness to win and willingness not to lose, more than anything, continue."
A first-half wondergoal helped hosts Peterborough over the line and the Posh had to defend manfully in the final stages as they sat behind the ball and survived waves of Shrewsbury attacks.
Summer signing Beckles explained how Town will have to become used to opposition raising their performance levels when leaders Shrewsbury come to town.
"In the position that we're in, being top of the league, you're a scalp, teams come out and it's a cup final – you saw it against Peterborough – they came out wanting to win a cup final," he added.
"We're going to be prepared for many more games like that."
