Paul Hurst disappointed after Shrewsbury Town's clash with Charlton is postponed due to call-ups
Paul Hurst has expressed his disappointment after Shrewsbury Town’s home game against Charlton Athletic on November 11 was postponed due to international call-ups.
The Addicks made the call as striker Josh Magennis will be away with Northern Ireland while Jay Dasilva and Ezri Konsa will be with the England Under-20s.
A new date for the fixture is yet to be confirmed.
“We were made aware that it was a possibility, and now it has become reality,” said Hurst
“It just means that defeat at Peterborough (United, last weekend) will linger for a little bit longer.”
The postponement means Town have an FA Cup clash with non-league outfit Aldershot Town tomorrow and a Checkatrade Trophy encounter with Walsall on Tuesday, before a free weekend.
“All it does for me though is add more focus on this game coming up – it is the next one and the real competitive one we are going to have for a couple of weeks,” said Hurst
“Tuesday against Walsall will be slightly different, although I’ll still want to win that game as well.
“It means we miss a bit of league action.
“It’s something we looked at, pre-empted slightly in terms of the players’ work schedule. We will look at that in more detail after the Aldershot game.”
Dean Henderson will be in international action that weekend after being called up to the England Under-21s squad.
Hurst added: “It just shows that his form with us is being noticed.
“He has not made it onto the pitch for them as of yet so it would be fantastic if he could do that.
“All he can do is do his best and impress.
“If he is doing anything like he is with us, the other two keepers must be doing really special for him not to be involved.”
