Paul Hurst confident of Shrewsbury Town FA Cup progression against Morecambe
Paul Hurst is confident of FA Cup progression for his Shrewsbury Town after being drawn at home to Morecambe in round two.
Town do battle with the Shrimps for a place in the third round on the weekend of December 2.
Morecambe, managed by former Telford United favourite Jim Bentley, have won just three from 16 league games this season and sit 23rd in the table.
“You always want a home tie if you can so we have to be pleased to have drawn Morecambe," said Hurst.
“We feel that we can get through to the next round of the competition, I’m confident in our team's ability but I’m sure that Jim Bentley will feel the same.
“All the teams that are in the draw are one game away from the third round when the big teams come into it.
“Everyone will be looking to get through this round and then to get one of the really big clubs.
“We know that it will be another tough test.
“Jim always sets his teams up in a way that you know you have to be at your best to beat and with it being the FA Cup it’s all about who does the job on the day.”
Bentley was muted as one of the bookmakers' favourites to replace Micky Mellon last year.
Morecambe eased beyond Hartlepool United in last Saturday's first round tie. The clubs have met in the fourth tier in recent seasons, where Shrewsbury have won the four previous encounters.
