Shrewsbury Town have confirmed the signing of Derby County left-back Max Lowe on-loan for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old is the first signing for Paul Hurst of the January transfer window, and will offer a natural left-sided defensive option as replacement for the injured Junior Brown.

The youngster made 12 appearances for the Rams last season, but had yet to make an appearance for the first team at Pride Park this campaign following his return from an abdominal injury.

He admitted that he's thrilled with the move, and can't wait to get the ball rolling at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

"I’m buzzing to finally be here and I can’t wait to get started" He told Shrewsburytown.com

"I got a call from Dean Henderson at first a couple of months ago and he said that Shrewsbury were really interested in me and it was a no brainer really, so I’m buzzing to have got it sorted.

“I just can’t wait to get playing. The lads are flying and hopefully I can help them get more results like they have been doing.”

Lowe describes himself as an attacking full-back that's capable of running the line and offering options going forward, and is eager to show his skills in League One with Salop.

"I like to say I’m an up and down full-back, but I also do take care of my defending because that’s my number one job, so I’m here to defend and hopefully get a lot of clean sheets” he said.

"I had 12 games on the bounce with Derby last season and did relatively well, I would like to think, so hopefully I can show my experience here as well.

“The Championship is a hard league but I took it game by game and with confidence my performances hopefully will become better.

“I’m just going to take it week by week and get to know the gaffer a bit more and the players and hopefully I can get more games under my belt and see where it takes me.”

Lowe could potentially make his first appearance in blue and amber this Sunday in the highly anticipated FA Cup clash with West Ham.
