Joe Hart excited to take on Shrewsbury Town once more
Joe Hart cannot wait to face boyhood club Shrewsbury Town once again on Tuesday after an ‘amazing’ return to the county.
Salop head to Hart’s West Ham for an FA Cup third round replay following a 0-0 draw at the Montgomery Waters Meadow last weekend.
It was the 30-year-old’s first time back at Shrewsbury, where he progressed through the youth ranks, since departing for Manchester City in 2006.
And ahead of the London Stadium clash, the England goalkeeper wrote on his official website: “What a special day!
“Thank you to everyone at Shrewsbury Town for the incredible welcome I received, it was even better than I had imagined and very much appreciated.
“I had been looking forward to this fixture since it was announced – to be given the opportunity to return to my home town and my first club for the FA Cup third round tie was amazing.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming the team to London for the replay and hoping we can secure our place in the next round of the competition.
“Thanks again to all! Salop!”
More than 2,000 Shrewsbury tickets have been sold for the trip to east London.
“We’re over 2,000, which is fantastic,” said chief executive Brian Caldwell.
“It’s great that the fans are following the team in good numbers. We’ve been allocated just over 3,000 and hopefully we can continue to sell them as we have been.”
