The defender nodded in his third goal of the season as he converted an outstanding run and cross from Alex Rodman with just a minute of normal time remaining at in-form Bristol Rovers.

Paul Hurst's men have earned a reputation of battling until the very end this season and have a long list of late goals to their name.

This one, in wet and miserable conditions in the south west, sparked jubilant scenes involving 700 travelling Town fans as Shrewsbury climbed back above Blackburn into second place in League One.

"It's been the case all season that we've had to fight for winners and getting equalisers," Nsiala said. "We set up this season to never give up and to carry on fighting.

"It's the way we're going to carry on the whole season, fight for every scrap and every minute.

"To come to places like Bristol Rovers and win. Last time last season we got battered and didn't have a sniff.

"To come to a team likes this and compete and get the win at the end means we've come a long way."

There was initially confusion over the winning goal as it appeared from certain angles that Rodman's effort across goal had flew directly in.

But while Nsiala insisted he got the final touch near the far post, the defender was keen to pay tribute to the late substitute's fine work. He added: "The work rate, the tackle and the feet in the box as well. I'm very sorry for robbing the goal off him – it was probably going in, I don't know, I just had to head it in.

"It was not offside as we were on the same line. I'm on three goals now, or we can give it to Alex, I'm not really bothered, it's the win I'm happy about.

"A lot of people are saying it's Alex, I don't mind goals but...if he wants it he can have it but I'm pretty they'll give it back to me.

"It's a great win. Honestly, it's better winning the way we did – in the last minute of the game."
