Town are second in League One and fresh off a 2-0 win at Charlton Athletic last weekend, which a lot of fans believe was one of the best performances of the season.

Hurst is on the hunt for another three points, weather permitting, against Peterborough United at the Montgomery Waters Meadow – and has urged the fans to make their voices heard after the postponement of the Checkatrade Trophy semi-final against Yeovil Town this past Tuesday. A pitch inspection is being held at 9.30am this morning.

“The fans have missed out on one game, although rearranged very quickly for next Tuesday,” said the Salop chief.

“The focus now is very much on Peterborough, that’s the next one.

“We want as many fans there as possible because it showed, with the away following we had (at Charlton), they were right behind the team.

“Thankfully, they got to witness a very good performance.

“That’s what we’ll be looking to do, to replicate that sort of performance if we can. It doesn’t matter who we play, that sort of performance will give us a chance in every game.

“That’s what we’ll be striving for and fingers crossed we can achieve that.”

Town go into the encounter having gone four without a win at the Meadow.

They would love to get back on track at home, particularly with the rearranged fixture against Yeovil coming up on Tuesday – which if they win, they will play Lincoln City in the final at Wembley.

“It’s the next chance for us to try to get a victory,” added Hurst.

“It’s amazing, we said after the game at Charlton, I think we’ve got the best away record now. I’m not entirely sure, but isn’t it near enough identical home and away?

“I’ll take that. We want to win our home games but if we keep that going until the end of the season and have a few more wins, hopefully, home and away, we’d be delighted.”
