Hello Shrewsbury! Lionel Richie gets kitted out in Town colours
Will Town fans be dancing on the ceiling come the end of the season?
They are flying high in League One and Lionel Richie is hoping that by saying Hello, Shrewsbury Town FC can do it for him in their quest for promotion.
Ahead of his show at Montgomery Waters Meadow on June 13, the 68-year-old has shown his support for the club by wishing them luck for the rest of the season.
Whilst not quite donning the shirt, the Motown hitmaker has thrown his weight behind the team and posed with one of the recognisable blue and amber shirts.
Lionel said: "Good luck to Shrewsbury Town for the rest of the season.
"I am looking forward to performing at the Montgomery Waters Meadow in June."
Tickets for the show are selling well and with the added draw of American singer-songwriter, producer and former dancer Anastacia, the show is expected to be a sell-out.
The Lionel Richie ‘All The Hits’ tour will run from June 1-24.
The audience can expect to hear hits including Hello, Dancing on the Ceiling, Say You, Say Me, Lady and Running with the Night.
Shrewsbury Town CEO Brian Caldwell is looking forward to seeing Lionel live at the ground.
He said: “After the success of previous concerts at the stadium with Elton John and of course last year with Rod Stewart, we look forward to another successful show with Lionel Richie.
"Lionel is one of the biggest selling artists of all time and I am sure he will be a popular with the people of Shropshire who are in for a magical night listening to all the hits.
"Events like this help to put not only Shrewsbury Town on the map but also Shrewsbury and prove to be a major boost for the local economy.”
Tickets, which range from £49.50 to £136, are available from Ticketmaster.
