Shropshire Star

Hello Lionel, which team are you looking for?

Lionel Richie has declared his Endless Love for four different football clubs after posing with a series of shirts ahead of his forthcoming UK tour.

The 68-year-old crooner takes in the grounds of Shrewsbury Town, Carlisle United, Chesterfield and St Johnstone this June, so he has become once, twice, three times – ahem, four times – a supporter of those teams.

He may have released an album called Coming Home in 2006, but choosing which of the four stadiums to call home wasn’t Easy (like a Sunday morning), describing each as ‘legendary’ in his press releases for the tour.

And though he appears drawn to the colour blue, he clearly can’t quite decide to tell which side: “I’m Stuck On You.”

Richie’s best chance of celebrating All Night Long at the end of this season perhaps lies with Shrewsbury, who are in the hunt for promotion from League One.

Carlisle and St Johnstone may be heading for mid-table finishes, but with Chesterfield seven points from safety at the foot of League Two, they Can’t Slow Down in the race for more wins this season.

Still, whatever may happen on the pitch, at least Lionel will get them Dancing On The Ceiling this summer.
