Cowan has secured the futures of defenders Shane Sutton and Ross White, as well as midfielder Henry Cowans, to add to already-contracted pair Ellis Deeney and Amari Morgan-Smith.

The former Bucks and Shrewsbury defender is confident of finalising ‘a couple of things’ this week, which he told the Shropshire Star are likely to be his first new AFC Telford signings.

“Being busy is an understatement!” Cowan said. “There’s been a lot of networking and speaking to players as well as getting a feel for what is out there.

“I’m not in any particular rush but I’m also eager to recruit my squad.

“I know what it takes to be successful and I know exactly what I’m looking for.”

Jaz Singh, Paul Bignot and Bob Harris have left the New Bucks Head.

Cowan revealed he has found negotiations with certain players outside the football club tougher due to unrealistic demands.

But the former stopper expects that, as pre-season draws nearer, players will lower their expectation levels.

“I’m eager and ready to go,” added the 36-year-old.

“I’m excited by what’s going to come and I know what it takes.”
