We rated the Shrewsbury Town players from their heartbreaking defeat at Wembley.

Dean Henderson

This lad is going to have a great career. Fans were praying for the game to go penalties as, with the form he was in here, he may well have saved all of them. He denied a spot-kick early on, palming David Ball's effort away with aplomb. Another top-class save took the game to extra time, getting his fingertips onto a Ryan Williams strike. Town have been lucky to have him. 9/10

James Bolton

None of the Salop defence really had their best day at the office, Bolton being replaced by Joe Riley. He did not do anything particularly badly, but he did not have a marked influence on the game either. 6/10

Toto Nsiala

Looked a little bit nervous early on, making a couple of rash challenges. Grew in confidence as the game went on but Michael Smith was a real handful. 6/10

Mat Sadler

The best of the back four, making a fair few blocks, clearances and headers - and even the odd foray forward. Wears his heart on his sleeve and, as club captain, will be bitterly disappointed to have missed out on a return to the Championship, in which he has a lot of experience from spells with Birmingham and Watford. 7/10

Omar Beckles

Gave away the penalty, which Henderson saved, and then lost track of Richard Wood for the Millers’ first goal. Looked more assured in the second half and had a few more bursts down the left, but those sorts of errors from him are unusual. 5/10

Ben Godfrey

Salop’s best outfield performer at Wembley. Firm in the tackle, calm with the ball, Godfrey did a top job as the midfield anchorman. He displayed he impressive fitness too, not seeming to tire even in the closing stages of extra time. Like Henderson, he’s been a joy to watch in blue and amber this campaign. You would expect him to play a large number of games for Norwich in the Championship next term. 8/10

Bryn Morris

The former Middlesbrough man struggled to get into the game. Loosing his footing on a couple of occasions in the first half and taking some whacks, one from team-mate Nsiala. In the end, it was one knock too many as he was forced off through injury. You had to feel sorry for him. 5/10

Jon Nolan

So often the difference-maker for Town, Nolan was also below his usual standard. Came up with some nice crosses and accurate pass - long and short - but lacked incision. He put in a big shift, running himself into the ground. 6/10

Shaun Whalley

Played a massive part in Salop’s equaliser, passing it to Sadler who then found Rodman. As always, he chased every ball. His deliveries, though, were often wayward. The effort was there, but the execution was not unfortunately. 6/10

Carlton Morris

A traditional target man, Morris made the most of the little service he had to feed off in the first half. Possessing a large amount of power and pace, he held the ball up very well before going off injured. Although not quite to the extent of Henderson and Godfrey, his loan spell has certainly been a success. 7/10

Alex Rodman

Got the goal and ran himself into the ground, ending the game with a bandage around his head. 7/10

Substitutes

Did not make much of an impact. 6/10

Lost Wood for Rotherham's winner. 5/10

Kept things simple. 6/10.
